I am happy to start you off on this journey of books with Carrie By Stephen King book. It is one of the first books I read and it made me want to know more about this awesome writer and made want to read more of his work.
Released on the 5 April 1974 it was his first published novel. It was dedicated to his dear wife Tabitha ‘This is for Tabby, who got me into it and bailed me out of it’
Her name is Carietta White and she is a 16 year old girl from Maine, Chamberlain. This is the story of a girl who is bullied at school and also by her mother. One of the worst days is when she is ridiculed in front of the entire school while everybody is laughing at her, the day when she is taking a shower after physical education class. She has her first period and she knows nothing about what is happening to her. She gets scared and everybody laughs.
This is the day when she discovers her telekinetic powers, and she slowly develops them, practicing and become stronger. With a feeling of guilt for the bullying of Carrie, Sue Snell, a popular girl in school, asks her boyfreind to invite Carrie to the school prom.
Everything is ok until Carrie is elected prom queen and two buckets of pig blood are poored onto her and Tommy’s head. Then everything goes out of control and her anger makes her powers take control of her. The only thing Carrie wants is to punish everybody. Everything ends up in a disaster.
Read this for yourself, and see Carrie unleash her powers onto her enemies. It makes for some breathtaking reading!
It is an extraordinary novel and as all KIng’s books do, it takes you to another world.
