Something also to tell you about this book is that Stephen King wrote it in a single week.

The Running Man By Stephen King

The story is set in 2025, in the near future and follows the life of Ben Richards, a family man who has serious money problems. He is a citizen of Co-Op city in a period when the worlds economy has huge problems. Ben cannot find a job and he needs urgent money for his ill daughter’s medicine.

To find a way to help the family, his wife Sheila becomes a prostitute. A way to make money for Ben Richards is The Game Network. This is a television station operated by the government. He is tested and finally chosen in the game The Running man.

The Running Man is one of the most dangerous but at the same time the most popular game. So what is it about this game? The man playing is considered a dangerous criminal and a team of hit men is sent to find him and capture him. The contestant is payed one hundred dollars for each hour he avoids the hunters, an extra one hundred dollars for each killed hit man and the bonus of one billion dollars if he stays alive for thirty days. The contestant is given false identification, papers, pocket money and a twelve-hour head start in front of the runners.

So here I will stop telling you any details not to spoil it. Will Ben Richards manage to finish the game and save his family? Will he take the big prize?

The Running Man will capture your attention until the last page (as do all Stephen King’s Books). You will surely enjoy it.
